Customising the Active Standby screen on the Nokia N96
How to customise the Active Standby screen and selection key shortcuts on the Nokia N96 smartphone
The Active Standby screen appears when your Nokia N96 has been idle for a while and provides shortcuts to six applications or utilities as well as calendar, date/time info and wi-fi network scanning.
The Active Standby screen also provides shortcuts for the top two selection keys.
The default N96 state puts factory presets into the shortcuts bar and selection keys but these can be easily changed to suit your preferences.
To customise the application shortcuts follow these steps:
- Press the Nokia Menu shortcut key and choose Tools
- In the Tools screen click on Settings
- In the Settings screen select General
- In the General settings screen click on Personalisation
- In the Personlisation screen select Standby mode
- Now you can click on Shortcuts to choose the two shortcuts for the selection keys and Active standby apps to choose what, application, tool or even web browser bookmark you want to have the in the shortcuts bar
- Just click on the numbered shortcut and select which function you want there from the pop-up menu. When you are finished choose Back with the right Selection key and keep pressing Back until you return to the Active Standby scree
