Apple investigates iPhone 3.1 battery life issue
Apple has contacted users who have complained that the recent iPhone 3.1 upgrade has sharply reduced their handset's battery life
Apple is investigating reports that the recent iPhone 3.1 upgrade has seriously degraded the battery life for many iPhone users.
The move, reported by The iPhone Blog, follows users' posts on the Apple's own customer support bulletin boards listing problems with battery life following the upgrade.
Apparently the issue is not fixed with the usual battery life extension tips such as disabling push email and switching off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Apple has contacted some digruntled upgraders and asked them to fill out an 11-point questionnaire about their iPhones. The message also includes an attachment - Battery Life Logging - which is an app that once installed on the phone will monitor the battery usage and relay the findings back to Apple.
We at Smartphone Tracker haven't had any battery problems since we upgraded to iPhone 3.1 but the iPhone blog says that a recent survey indicated that 24% of its readers believed their battery life had become worse after the upgrade.
Apple has sent the Battery Life Logging app to users that have seen their iPhone's battery life affected by the upgrade
