Nokia has confirmed that its mobile gaming platform N-Gage will be closed by September 2010
Nokia has confirmed that it is discontinuing its mobile gaming platform N-Gage, opting to pass its mobile gaming responsibilities over to the Ovi Store.
According to Nokia’s N-Gage Blog, N-Gage will cease to exist as of September 2010. The decision to consolidate N-Gage into the Ovi Store is an obvious strategy by the Finnish phone giant to get everything, such as applications, widgets, downloads, maps, and now games, under one roof.
A statement on the Nokia blog said, “It’s much more convenient to have one place to get all your mobile games, and this it what Ovi Store provides.”
While users will still be able to use the N-Gage service until September 2010, it is no longer available pre-installed on new Nokia devices.
