iPhone gets “Rick-Rolled”

Richard Goodwin

The iPhone’s first ever worm has been confirmed, and is thought to be spreading. The Rick Astley worm, also known as the Ikee worm, is circulating across Australia.

The worm, which was devised by an Australian hacker, changes the affected iPhone’s wallpaper to a picture of eighties pop-legend Rick Astley.

According to a BBC report, the hacker claims that the worm was designed to highlight security issues, such as the users not changing their default passwords.

While the worm isn’t malicious, experts have suggested that the worm’s code could be modified to carry a far nastier payload.

Only iPhone users that have jail-broken their devices are at risk, and can avoid infection by simply changing their SSH utility password.

Nevertheless, virus experts have suggested that the cost of the bandwidth used to spread the virus will be passed onto the infected iPhone users, which could mean some serious data charges for the affected parties.

Unfortunately, Apple were unavailable for comment when contacted by Smartphone Tracker.
