HTC plan to release Android netbook with T-Mobile
Richard Goodwin
HTC CEO Peter Chou is reported to have confirmed the existence of an on-going project between HTC and T-Mobile to develop an Android powered netbook.
A blog for CNET Asia reported that Mr. Chou said, HTC are “carefully looking into that category and how it can be part of that”.
According to reports, Mr. Chou stated in an interview that the company weren’t interested in developing another run-of-the-mill netbook but is instead looking to bring some kind of “unique value” to users.
HTC released its first PC, the HTC Swift, back in 2007. However, the Shift was eventually discontinued and until now remains HTC’s only venture into the netbook market. And while nothing about the new netbook has been officially confirmed, it looks more than likely that more news will emerge shortly.
Smartphone Tracker spoke to a T-Mobile UK spokesperson, which said: "At a T-Mobile UK level, there is no official project to jointly develop an Android netbook."
Will HTC strike it lucky second time around in the netbook market?
