HTC Hero gets 'unofficial' Android 2.1 upgrade
An unofficial OS update ROM suggests that the HTC Hero will be upgraded to Android 2.1 rather than 2.0
An unofficial upgrade has been circulated that updates the OS in the HTC Hero to Android 2.1.
While many Hero users have been waiting patiently for the Android 2.0 update, it looks like HTC are taking things even further and the HTC Hero will actually be updated to Android 2.1.
The unofficial Android 2.1 update for the HTC Hero is available here.
According to TechDigest, the unofficial ROM is a little glitchy but it does have full support for the Hero’s Sense UI. The unofficial ROM update was created by XDA Developers and All Droid.
Unfortunately, HTC have yet to make an official statement regarding the official release date of the ROM update, and whether or not it’ll be to Android 2.0 or Android 2.1.
Nevertheless, if the unofficial one is anything to go by, it looks most likely to be Android 2.1, which is certainly good news for Hero owners.
According to reports, the official updated Android ROM is expected to land before the end of 2009.
