Time magazine names Motorola DROID Gadget of the Year

The US news magazine Time has named the Android 2.0 powered Motorola DROID gadget of the year - ahead of the Apple iPhone
The Motorola DROID has trumped the Apple iPhone 3GS to bag the prestigious Gadget of the Year gong from the US news weekly Time magazine.
Time named the iPhone Gadget of the Year in 2008 for its level of innovation. However, this year's prize went to the Motorola DROID and will no doubt be a massive boost for Verizon, Motorola and Expansys the e-retailer that has an exclusivity deal on the Motorola DROID in the UK, where has been re-branded as the Motorola Milestone.
According to reports, the DROID received the accolade for providing free turn-by-turn GPS through Google Maps Navigation, its 3.7-inch AMOLED screen and its impressive slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
The Motorola Milestone, which is available to purchase now from Expansys, uses the powerful Android 2.0 OS and is one of the main challengers to the iPhone’s crown as king of the smartphones.
In addition, Time put the iPhone 3GS in fourth place, the Barnes & Noble Nook eReader in second, and the Dell Adamo XPS came in sixth.
