Google phone specs leaked
Richard Goodwin
Details concerning the Google phone have been released by ROM hackers. The leaked specs reveal what processor the Google Nexus will use as well as some additional features and on-board applications.
The leaked specs were announced by These Are The Droids after ROM hackers had analysed the Android 2.1 ROM that the Nexus One is claimed to be using.
According to reports, the Nexus One will use a Snagdragon processor that is capable of speeds of up to 1GHz, which is nearly twice that of the Motorola Droid.
In addition to this, the ROM hackers also confirmed that the OpenGL ES 2.0 software used by the Nexus One should put the device on par with the iPhone in terms of its gaming capabilities.
The Google Nexus One will also feature a proximity and ambient light sensor, an accelerometer, a magnetic compass, WiFi, a stereo FM speaker, and also a noise-cancellation chipset,
In addition, the ROM hackers also claimed that the Nexus One will have an 802.11n chipset inside -- most current smartphones only use 802.11g at present.
This has lead to further speculation that the Nexus One may also have a dedicated Wireless-N environment built into it.
At present, these are only rumours. But if any of them are true, particularly about the processor, it looks like there is going to be a big market shake-up in the first half of 2010.
Is Google about to blow the rest of the competition away with its Nexus One smartphone?
