Apple to announce tablet-style gadget
Richard Goodwin
Apple is set to unveil plans this month for the release of its first ever tablet-style gadget - nicknamed the iTablet.
The new Apple tablet, which has been referred to as the iTablet, will allow users to consume music, movies, and books as well as other media and the internet, according to The Wall Street journal.
In addition to this, the new Apple tablet is expected to be announced this month and begin shipping in March.
Additional reports have suggested that the official unveiling of the tablet could be on 27 January at the Yerba Buena Centre for Arts in San Francisco.
The Tablet, which has been referred to as the iTablet and the iSlate, doesn’t have an official name as yet. Nevertheless, the device itself is reported to have either a 10 or 11-inch touchscreen.
Apple has stated that it doesn’t know how to make a good computer for less than $500 and has accordingly stayed well away from the netbook market.
However, Apple did also say that it was considering alternative ideas for that space. And if the initial reports of the tablet are anything to go by, it looks like Apple has found its alternative - somewhere between an iPhone and a netbook.
Analysts expect the Apple tablet to cost anywhere between $500 - $1000 (£346 - £691) with or without a mobile data plan included.
Is Apple set to shake up the market again with the release of a new gadget?
