T-Mobile joins the tablet generation

Richard Goodwin

T-Mobile has announced that it will launch its Android Vega tablet in the UK in conjunction with Innovative Converged Devices (ICD).

The T-Mobile Vega Android Tablet, which will be powered by an Android OS, has been nicknamed “The family hub tablet” and boasts Nvidia Tegra graphics as well as full HD playback.

The Android Vega features a 15-inch screen, comes with a T-Mobile SIM card, as well as  3G and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The premises behind the “family hub” tablet is that everybody in a house can use it to send texts, surf the internet and use applications like the calender to organise themselves.

In addition to this, the tablet has built in features such as the ability to sync the calender up to mobile devices so that reminders are sent out - via SMS - to people when there is an important coming up.

The device also features an FM radio and other web-based media features such as Spotify, which is always handy when you’re cooking in the kitchen.

Details regarding price and availability have yet to surface. Nevertheless, a UK release has been confirmed and it is thought that the Android Vega will land at some point in the first half of 2010.
