Apple confirms rumoured iTablet “Event” on 27th January
Richard Goodwin
Apple has confirmed that it is holding a press event on the 27th January, which means that we’ll definitely be seeing its “latest creation” - our money, like everyone else's, is on it being the Apple Tablet.
Apple has sent out press invites to journalists for an event that will take place at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco on the 27th January. And as expected, it is strongly believed that Apple will officially announce its - now almost - mythical iTablet.
The invitation comes with a message that simply states: “Come see our latest creation”.
Many critics have yet to be sold on the Tablet format, which sets to bridge the gap between mobile phone and netbook. But if any company can convert the nay-sayers it’s Apple.
The rumoured device is suspected to have a 10.1-inch OLED display, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity and is designed predominantly for surfing the web, watching media and sending email and text documents.
Check out our overview of all the “suspected” details here.
At present, there is no official name for the device. Names being chucked around by journalists so far are The Apple Tablet, the iTablet, the iSlate and simply The Tablet.
Whatever the soon-to-be-announced device is called, you can guarantee that post 27th January you’ll be bombarded with info, pics and video footage of it in action.
