Nexus One gets Multi-touch as hacking floodgates open
Richard Goodwin
The Nexus One smartphone has been hacked and users can now install a multi-touch hack.
Google’s Nexus One launched just over a month ago and too many users’ disappointment it didn’t come with multi-touch capabilities.
However, the hacking process has begun and users can now install the first native multi-touch hack, which is sure to silence critics who have bashed the Nexus One’s initial lack of multi-touch.
The hack was created by Android hacker Cyanogen who has posted an installable version of the native Android browser with multi-touch enabled, which you can get here.
However, Google has released the full Android 2.1 source code into the Android Open Source Project, which means modders now have access to the information and code they need to issue a full Nexus One overhaul that’ll include multi-touch in all stock apps.
The release of the code, which was made available this morning, could mean that the first custom ROMs for the Nexus One could be with us by next weekend.
