iPad available in UK from March
Apple confirmed today that its new tablet device, the iPad, will be available in the UK in March.
The highly anticipated iPad was officially launched last night in San Francisco and has since then gone on to become one of the most talked about gadgets since the iPhone. However, news of a UK release has started a race between UK mobile network operators to nab the rights for the iPad in the UK.
The Times has reported that Orange has already begun talks with Apple about providing 3G mobile internet connections for the iPad.
Talks with other UK mobile network operators such as O2 and Vodafone are expected to begin soon, said The Times.
Apple have stated that a Wi-Fi-only version of the iPad will be available in March, but users’ wanting a 3G device will have to wait until April in the UK.
Price wise, the iPad turned out to be a hell of a lot cheaper than expected - a snip at $499 in the US. However, no prices have been confirmed for the UK yet. But if the prices stay the same, which is highly unlikely, the iPad will be about £308 in the UK.
