iPad 3G gets early release in UK
iPad fans - and there’s a lot out there - will be pleased to learn that the 3G version of Apple’s newest gadget, the iPad, will be released in the UK as early as April.
The iPad Wi-Fi-Only tablet was confirmed to be landing in the UK in March. However, Apple had previously stated that the 3G version would be at least 90 days after this. But news today confirmed that the 3G version will now be available in April - approximately 60 days early.
Apple’s UK website stated that the iPad Wi-Fi will be available in late March and the 3G version in April.
Orange has been rumoured to be in talks with Apple about providing 3G coverage for the iPad 3G. However, nothing has been confirmed on this front just yet.
In other reports, Apple is said to have stuck, or is close to striking, a deal that will put MicroSIMs in British iPads.
Thus far there has been no price plans announced for the UK, but upon the iPad’s release in the US experts were taken aback by how cheap - $499 - the Apple iPad was. Could the UK be subject to such low pricing as well? We can only wait and see.
