Nexus One coming to T-Mobile?
Richard Goodwin
Vodafone, at present, is the only UK carrier of Google’s Nexus One. However, news this week has suggested that T-Mobile could be in line to pick up the Android-based monster as well.
The highly anticipated Google Nexus One arrived last month and has gone on to receive rather mixed reviews - some expected more, others were impressed.
Nevertheless, Vodafone bagged the initial rights to sell the phone in the UK - but there was no word of an exclusivity deal mentioned, which means other carriers could still pick up the Android-powered smartphone.
T-Mobile’s head of corporate affairs Robin O'Kelly on Twitter said, “We're talking to Google re nexus and hope we can come up with something very soon.”
So, with this in mind it looks like we could be seeing the Nexus One on T-Mobile in the very near future.
Thus far though, Vodafone is the only UK carrier confirmed to have the Nexus One, which is due to land in the UK in early spring.
However, users’ wanting the Nexus One can also get the device direct from Google in the States. This will mean paying full price for the handset, but the handset itself will be SIM-free, so users’ can pick-and-choose which network they go with.
If Vodafone has got the rights to the Nexus One, you can bet that T-Mobile will also get it, and maybe Orange as well - at least, that’s what we think at Smartphone Tracker anyway.
