Vodafone launches SIM-only tariffs
Richard Goodwin
Vodafone has announced a range of SIM-only tariffs, which have been described by many industry experts as a ploy to tempt customers, especially iPhone users, over to the network.
The basic premise behind the deal is this: Because users’ do not pay for the handset, which they already have, they get a month cheaper monthly tariff. Some even start as low at £10 a month.
Many industry experts have stated that this is an obviously ploy aimed largely at iPhone users for when their current contract ends - and, we all know how bad the Appe-tinged tariffs are.
Nevertheless, the deals themselves are hardly jaw-dropping. For instance, £10 a month will get you 100 minutes and 500 texts, which, if you’re honest, is hardly worth it.
Other tariffs available are based on a year-long basis. One such is the £15 per month deal, which will secure you 300 minutes and unlimited texts. However, if users’ upgrade to a year-long tariff, instead on the monthly one, they’ll get 600 minutes and unlimited texts - again, hardly riveting stuff.
Vodafone is also offering a £20 deal that includes 500MB of mobile internet and a £25 one that introduces unlimited calls to landlines.
In addition to this, there’s also another £25 package that serves up 1GB of Web and Wi-Fi per month.
Will SIM-only tariffs tempt iPhone users' over to Vodafone? Probably not...
