New mobile app warns you about dodgy neighbourhoods
Paul Nesbitt
UK developer Jeff Gilfelt has launched a free app for both iPhones and Android phones, called the Asborometer, which supplies publicly available stats on local crime and anti-social behaviour.
Asborometer is free to download from Apple's App Store or the Android Market, and Gilfelt said that 'although its name is fun, it has a serious message.'
The Asborometer displays information such as the levels of antisocial behaviour and other stats like the numbers of evictions.
The application uses two data sources - ASBO CDRP survey full dataset Oct 03 to March 09 and the Number of Anti-Social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs). This data is provided by the Home Office under the UK Crown Copyright licence.
The Asboromoter only works in England and Wales as data is only available for regions in these two parts of the UK.
