Nokia launches free Sky Sports application
Richard Goodwin
Nokia and Sky have teamed up to give mobile users a free application that’ll let them watch Sky Sports on their Nokia handsets.
The new Sky Sports application is now available on the Ovi Store for free and will allow Nokia users to watch Sky Sports on their Nokia handsets.
The application also allows users to record live action as well as check the latest sports headlines.
That said, the Sky Sports app isn’t compatible with the entire Nokia back catalogue of devices. So far, the app is available on the Nokia N97, the Nokia N97 mini, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and the Nokia 5530 - so just four for now, unfortunately.
Nevertheless, Nokia has confirmed that there will be working versions of the application for the Nokia 5230 and the X6 very shortly - although, this still leaves a fair few users out in the cold.
David Gibbs, Sky's general manager for mobile, told tech-website Pocket-lint the following:
"We’re delighted to be working with Nokia to give millions more people the chance to enjoy TV on the move.”
He added: “The success of Sky Mobile TV has shown there’s a real appetite for innovative services that allow customers to choose when and where they watch.”
