Virgin Media has cut network prices for customers on monthly and SIM-only plans, so that customers on SIM-only plans can now get unlimited internet access for just £15 per month.

Unlimited access for customers on 24 month Pay Monthly plans has been reduced to £20 per month.

Virgin Media, which recently became the sixth UK network to carry the HTC Desire smartphone, is now offering the hot handset on 24 month contracts starting at just £30 per month with 800 minutes talk time, unlimited texts and unlimited data.

Even better, existing Virgin Media customers can get a free HTC desire for just £15 on a 24 month contract or pay £20 per month for an 18 month deal.

Virgin Media is also offering BlackBerry users unlimited internet access and BlackBerry mail for just £15 per month on 24 month contracts or £20 per month on 18 month contracts.

Virgin Mobile customers will also be able to get a handset such as the BlackBerry 8520 for free for £20 per month tariff complete with 200 minutes and unlimited texts, web and BlackBerry mail service over 24 months. Existing Virgin Media customers will be able to reduce the monthly cost to just £15 per month for 100 minutes, 500 texts, unlimited web and Blackberry mail service.

Virgin Media's aggressive new pricing is part of a concerted move to increase the company's small market share.

'This move kicks off the next phase of Virgin Media's successful quadplay strategy,' said Virgin Media executive director, Graeme Oxby.
