Research in Motion (RIM) has released a white version of the BlackBerry Bold 9700, as well as finally make an official Twitter app available as a beta.
The 'WhiteBerry' has been seen in European online stores, will soon be available from Carphone Warehouse and T-Mobile on particular tariffs in the UK.
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 has 3G capability, built-in GPS, Wi-Fi and a 3.2 megapixel camera, and is been popular with both business users and consumers as one of the top premium RIM handsets.
The Apple-style colour is supposed to give the device a “sleek and elegant” look, and will certainly stand out from the present colours available for the BlackBerry, although grey and pink have been done before.
RIM has made a Twitter app available for BlackBerry smartphones, and will allow users to receive and send direct messages, post links from the BlackBerry browser, upload pictures and ‘join in the conversation’.
Users will get ‘ping’ notifications from direct messages, and also create, view and edit Twitter lists.
There are other Twitter apps available for BlackBerry, but this is the first official one, with RIM having taken onboard feedback to enhance functionality.
The app needs a 64MB BlackBerry smartphones, 750KB of available BlackBerry memory, and BlackBerry Software version 4.5 or later.
