The iPad will be available in the UK for just over £400, with May 28 the release date.
The suggested retail prices for 3G models are £429 for 16GB, £499 for 32GB and £599 for 64GB. For the 3G and Wi-Fi models you will need to pay £529 for 16GB, £599 for 32GB and £699 for 64 GB. All prices include VAT.
They will be all sold through the Apple store, retail stores and selected authorised Apple resellers. A free download in the iBooks app, which includes the Apple bookstore, will be available on the launch date.
Before then people eager to get hold of the iPad and worried about stock shortages pre-order the iPad from 10 May. In the US this has happened, so it might be a sensible thing to do.
Apple claims that the iPad has been a huge success, with sales already passing the one million mark in the US.
Problems have delayed the release of the iPad to British users, but they will soon be able to get hold of a device which has created a new sector which other companies look only now to be picking up on.
The iPad is designed for the comfortable consumption of media
