Dell will launch its Streak tablet exclusively on O2 from June, counting on the device to give the Apple iPad a run for its money.

In early June, the Streak will be available from O2 stores, the O2 website, the Carphone Warehouse and later on the Dell website. Pricing and data plans have yet to be confirmed.

The Streak is powered by Android and has a 5-inch capacitive multi-touch WVGA display. It will have Android market to buy apps as well as Dell interface advancements.

The tablet will also run on an ARM-based Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and software platform, with an intergrated 1GHz processor.

It has many features that the iPad misses, such as a 5MP camera, VGA front facing camera and removable battery.

It will also be able to connect using Wi-Fi, 3G and Bluetooth.  There is 2GB of internal dedicated storage.

"The Dell Streak hits the sweet spot between traditional smartphones and larger-screen tablets," said Ron Garriques, president, Dell Communication Solutions Group.

"Its unique size provides people new ways to enjoy, connect, and navigate their lives."

It also has integrated Google Maps, Twitter, Facebook and YouTube and can run over-the-air updates. It can also run Flash, which the iPad won’t.
