Apple iPhone sim-free delayed until July 2

Apple fans looking to get the iPhone 4 sim-free from Apple will have to wait until July 2 to get their hands the much-hyped device.

Huge demand for the device meant that pre-order stock has run out, meaning that Apple had to push back the shipping date from June 24, its official launch date.

It’s an interesting move by Apple to offer the iPhone sim-free, which means that people won’t have to sign up for lengthy contracts as long as they pay the price.

The Apple store is offering a black iPhone 4 16GB at £499, and a 32GB version at £599. Strangely the white iPhone 4 is not available.

As far as the contract device is concerned, all the major operators are offering the iPhone 4. O2 so far is the only one to officially release its tariffs, but none of them as yet has decided to show its hand pricing wise.

So far the buzz around the iPhone 4 has been positive, offering a different design, Wi-Fi video calling in FaceTime, improved resolution with a retina display, HD video recording and the addition of a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash.
