Fans queue for iPhone 4, white not out until July

Hundreds of people queued at the stores of Apple as well as the shops of network operators throughout the UK, but could only choose the black version of the iPhone 4.
Apple said that the white models had proven more challenging to make than expected, and would not be available until the second half of July.
Following the big success of the iPad, the launch of the iPhone 4 looks to have been an even bigger success, with 600,000 sold in its first day of pre-sales. All the major operators are offering the device, which for the first time will also be available sim-free from launch.
It has also been well reviewed by gadget sites, offering a new industrial-style design, LED camera with flash, as well as new FaceTime video conference capability and a better display.
The iPhone OS4 has also been launched, which offers users of the iPhone 3G and 3GS a number of significant upgrades, such as multi-tasking, folders and better mail options.
The latest version of the iPhone begins selling in the UK, US, Japan, France and Germany, but will be in 88 countries by September, representing the company’s fastest-ever global product roll-out.
iPhone 4 debuts 24 June
